Cathode Foil
In 2020, we expanded production line of aluminum cathode foil for lithium ion batteries at Asan plant and began mass production.
This cathode foil currently being mass-produced/sold is being applied to batteries for IT, PT, ESS and xEV through battery manufacturers.Aluminum Cathode foil is an eco-friendly battery for electric vehicles and is a key part that acts as a passage for electrons to move in secondary batteries that are attracting the industry's attention, and aluminum is processed very thin in a foil of less than 20μm (micron, 1/1000 of 1mm).
High-tech rolling technology is essential because the thickness of the aluminum must be kept uniformly during this process.
As a core technology for maximizing performance as a cathode foil, we have made differentiated competitiveness with surface treatment, thickness control, physical properties control and process technologies. -
Cylindrical Can
In 2021, our first step to becoming a secondary battery materials company was started when we acquired MKC company that had supplied cylindrical cans to battery cell makers. As of 2022, we have developed differentiated technology to strengthen anti-corrosion for 21700 cylindrical cans and have been supplying to battery cell makers. Moreover, we have been building mass production systems for 4680 cylindrical cans which is considered to be the next generation.
We have a mass production capacity of 21700 cylindrical battery cans that have increased energy capacity by more than 30% compared to the existing 18650 cylindrical battery cans. We are developing cans of 4680 cylindrical batteries that are expected to serve as game changers in the EV industry.
Based on the advanced high-speed press technology we have, we are building mass production lines with mold design and deep drawing technology to achieved product competitiveness.
